Kodachadri Trek – Chapter 1

Beginning from where we left last time around, our “heros” were at the Bangalore Bus Stand searching for their comfy ride. And behold, this is what fate led them too..

Ok ok.. I cannot carry on this kinda narration longer. So, basically, the shit had hit the fan. The bus cease to start, the passengers inside had to push it to get that monster started, and our jaws dropped watching the whole scene unfold. Oh before I forget, our intended time of departure was 2100hrs, and it was 2330hrs when we boarded it. So, I presume you can feel our pain-anger-disgust! Finally, after confirming that we even boarded the right bus, we left Bangalore at around 2345hrs. Well, I cannot confirm if KSRTC had used this bus for crash-testing, but, it felt the bus would just fall apart if it runs over a speed-breaker.

There we were, “trying” to get some sleep, with the decibel level of the engine and surroundings rising by the minute. And to add to that, the friggin windows had holes in them, and for some reason, there was cold air rushing inside through the floor! Cutting short the chase, we were deprived of sleep, had a horrible headache and our legs were frozen! But, I just want to mention that Bala had a pretty deep slumber irrespective of what was going on (wonder how!).

After 6 grueling hours, at around 0500hrs,  we reached Shimoga Bus Stand, aka, land of our Top Developer (Chethan)! We had to catch a private transport from Shimoga to the foothills of Kodachadri peak. After much drama, we finally boarded on to what looked like a jazzed up, Hot Rod, with pink (yeah pink) lights and crazy graffiti. It took us around 3 hours and by 0900hrs the gang had finally made it to  foothills.

This is where it all began!!!! And yeah, Chethan has a crazy theory about how having candies all the way to the peak makes our journey “quicker” and “enjoyable”!!! (Ahhh, What the heck, it’s my first trek, so I’ll buy in anything!)
